WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?
There is no bad weather here at Laguna Girls RC only 'bad clothing'
We will endeavour to run all sessions regardless of weather, but might use the shelter at Lagoon Watersports on rainier days. Bring appropriate clothing - your hot chocolate will taste even better at the end :-)
PS We will of course cancel the session if the weather causes the conditions to be dangerous.
I DON'T KNOW ANYONE
Perfect! This is your chance to meet new people and make new friends. We will always try and mix you up so you get to chat to everyone in the club. We also have a couple of Laguna girls who have been with us for a bit longer, who will always make sure newcomers feel extra welcome.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING AND WEAR?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable running in. You will get a snazzy Laguna Girls RC running top when you first join so you can choose to wear a long sleeve running top underneath this or just the top on its own. For colder or wetter days a light rain or wind jacket is recommended. REMEMBER to bring your water bottle for hydration. We will have a storage box for you to keep any jackets or bags that you might bring which will be kept at the watersports centre during the session. Please don't bring valuables.
DO I NEED ANY RUNNING EXPERIENCE TO JOIN?
We welcome all levels of runners. Our sessions are designed so that each person works towards their own goal. We don't time you - we work with an RPE (The Borg Rating of Perceived Exertion). This means you will learn to rate your own level of exertion on a scale of 0-10 (ie how hard or easy you are pushing yourself ).
WHAT IF I'VE GOT MY PERIOD?
That is absolutely fine. Whilst we do encourage our girls to remain active during the time of their period then we also recognise that some exercises are not appealing. Just let one of your coaches know - either via text before the session or when you arrive. We will be supportive of what you feel uncomfortable doing.
